Group Series
HELD: Through Grief by Grace (8 weeks)
- Sioux Falls - Tuesday evenings beginning October 6, 2026
An Eight-Week Faith-Based Adult Grief Series
Grief touches every part of life—and no one should walk through it alone. HELD – Through Grief by Grace is an eight-week journey offering spiritual and emotional support for those mourning the death of a loved one. Rooted in faith and informed by grief education, this series is designed to help participants find hope, understanding, and community amid sorrow.
Each weekly session includes guided teachings and the opportunity for small group discussions, organized by the type of loss experienced (child, spouse, parent, sibling). These conversations provide a safe, supportive space to process grief alongside others who understand.
Registration is required. There is no cost to attend; free-will donations are welcome.
EVENTS
Camp Sydney
The Lourdes Center warmly invites families navigating the profound loss of a loved one to join Camp Sydney 2026, a faith-filled three-day retreat designed to provide compassionate support and spiritual consolation. Drawing from the Church's pastoral wisdom, this camp offers a sacred space for parents, guardians, and children ages 6-17 to process grief together, fostering healing through community, prayer, and the light of Christ's resurrection. Hosted at the serene Broom Tree Family Camp, the event runs from 6 p.m. on Friday, June 4, 2027, to 11 a.m. on Sunday, June 6, 2027, and is provided free of charge as an act of mercy and evangelization.
What to Expect at Camp Sydney
• Fun and Therapeutic Activities for Children (Ages 6-17): Engaging games, outdoor adventures, and creative outlets to help young ones express emotions in a joyful environment, allowing them to "concentrate their energies in a greater dedication" to family bonds and future hope.
• Guided Discussions and Support for Parents and Guardians: Small-group sessions led by trained pastoral counselors, exploring the stages of grief—from questioning and anguish to interior liberation and renewed mission—while emphasizing that "love is strong as death" and invites us to love anew in Christ's light.
• Shared Prayer and Reflection: Opportunities for family worship, including moments of consolation drawn from Scripture and liturgy, reminding us that the Christian community brings "support and strength to those who suffer the loss" by proclaiming, "I am the resurrection and the life."
• Holistic Pastoral Care: Professional guidance tailored to spiritual, emotional, and psychological needs, helping families accept death's reality while finding solace in God's merciful plan, as echoed in the funeral rites that unite us in hope.
Registration opens on February 15, 2027. Secure your spot by visiting www.thelourdescenter.com or calling 605-988-3775 for more details. Spaces are limited, so we encourage early enrollment to ensure this healing opportunity reaches as many families as possible.
